Punjab Folk Art Centre” is an organization which is familiarizing the people of Punjab at grass root level with their culture. The main office of the Punjab Folk Art Center is situated in Town Gurdaspur, in Punjab State, India. The Centre was established in July 2002. It is registered with Govt. of Punjab and Govt. of India wide REGD. No DIC\BTL\SOCIRTY\2002\1386 .The Centre was established with the main objective of promoting and persevering the rich cultural heritage and sports of this region. The main aims and objective of the centre are;
To develop and promote the rich diversity and uniqueness if various parts of the Punjab and to upgrade and enrich Consciousness of the people about their culture. To lay special emphasis in its activities on the linkages among various areas through evolution of styles and their contribution to the largest composite identity of cultural heritage of India-To make special efforts to encourage folk and tribal arts and to frame special program me for preservation including Documentation and sustaining of the vanishing arts forms.- To frame such program as would encourage and involve the youth of the Punjab amongst themselves and with the Youth of the country in creative cultural communication through the process of seminars, exchange and workshops on matter relating to cultural heritage of India Over the years, the Centre has been working with concerted efforts towards achieving these objectives by organizing various program as well as implementing key program of the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (Govt. of India). and NZCC, Patiala, Ministry of Culture, Government of India .Schemes under the Ministry of Culture, which are sponsored through North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala. The Centre is also working in collaboration with Department of Cultural Affairs, Arc logy and Museum, Govt. of Punjab; Punjab Folk Art Centre has successfully organized several Cultural Programmer. At present more than 2000 youths are the active members of our organization. Our institution is training about five hundred artists every year under various cultural trainings, seminars & workshops conducted with the help of Department of Culture, Govt. of India. The Artist of Punjab Folk Art Centre have participated in various State & National Level Cultural Program and Festivals Organized by different Ministries ,under the National Cultural Exchange Program held at different places of country .Our group has already participated in International folk festival in Malaysia, Nepal, China and Indonesia
