Folklore group Name: LA SAVOIE Located at the foot of the French Alps, Chambery, the capital of Savoy, became in 1936 the cradle of « l’Ensemble d’Arts & Traditions Populaires LA SAVOIE ». From their diverse valleys; Maurienne, Tarentaise, Beaufortain, … the Savoyards left their mountain pastures at the beginning of the century to follow the economical evolution and settled down in the fault planes of Chambery, bringing with them the ancestral wealth of "Cultures & Traditions" specific to their villages. As the longest standing folk group organisation in the region, LA SAVOIE represents through its costumes, dances and songs, the complete portrait of the Savoyard tendencies.
