Folklore group Name: “SAVA”

The Folk-dance Group “SAVA” from the City of Kranj is today composed of students, as well as workers from the town and its vicinity. All participants, namely dancers, singers, instrumentalists and the tamburica-players are striving to preserve the rich folklore heritage of their ancestors by giving performances to the best of their abilities. The number of their performances today already exceeds 3.600. The activities of the folk-dance group “SAVA” were initiated in the autumn of 1949. The group was established by young workers of the “SAVA” tyre plant. The programme of its performances improved from year to year, offering a wider variety and a higher quality, making the group members feel self-confident whether performing locally or abroad. The group has already performed several times in Italy (19 times), Austria (15), Poland and Germany (8), France (6), Czech Republic (4), Spain and Denmark (3), Belgium (2). It also visited England, Ukraine, Montenegro, Turkey, Libya, Canada, exotic Canaries Islands, Brazil and Macau (China).
